Spice Girls to Reunite for Queen Elizabeth’s

It isn’t official yet, so don’t go digging through your closets in search of old Spice Girls merchandise — but word on the curb has it that the girl group who made the expression “Girl Power” a ’90s catchphrase will be temporarily regroup in June.

And we have Queen Elizabeth to thank for it.

On June 4, Brit will commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s 60th anniversary as the royal leader of the United Kingdom in a ceremony called the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at Buckingham Palace.

Mel B, aka Scary Spice, was asked during an interview on Australian TV if the Spice Girls would reunite at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

She responded:

“Ooh, I think the Queen’s Jubilee concert is the event I’d be looking at more closely for that to happen.”

Way to get the Rumor Mill churning, Mel!

She later added:

“I am going to be in such strife for saying that. It’s all so totally bloody top-secret still.”

The “Wannabe” hit-makers — which also includes Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm and Victoria Beckham — last reunited for comeback tour in 2007, seven years after splitting up in 2000. But according to reports, Victoria is less enthusiastic about this latest reunion.

A source told the UK’s Daily Mirror:

“All the girls are desperate for some Spice action except Posh who is simply too busy — she loves the girls and wants to support them and the fans but doesn’t see how she has the time when her fashion business is so successful.”
